Thanks to our specialist knowledge of soft medical-grade plastics and complex moulds, De Beer Plastics is an experienced partner for manufacturers of medical devices and aids. For applications such as hearing protection, we replace silicone with thermoplastic elastomers and produce millions of customised ear tips.

In addition, we manufacture components for medical devices, such as housings for analytical equipment and other technical applications where high standards are required.

Medical applications: technically tough or challenging soft

One of De Beer Plastics’ particular areas of expertise is the processing of (ultra-)soft plastics, for example as an alternative to silicone. We produce ear tips from medical-grade TPE for various manufacturers of hearing protection, ensuring ultimate comfort and durability.

Medical-grade thermoplastic elastomers (TPE)

The processing of soft plastics has been a recurring theme throughout the history of De Beer Plastics. For applications involving skin contact, we process medical-grade TPE and TPU, including for earplugs, pulsators for EMDR therapy, and components for adult lifestyle products.

Many of these applications are made from ultra-soft TPE, ranging from 0 to 30 Shore A and even softer. Injection moulding of these materials is a specialism that De Beer Plastics masters like no other.

Enclosures for medical devices

The injection moulding of sleek, top-quality enclosures requires a high degree of precision and stable processes. Using mould flow analysis, we assess in advance where sink marks may occur, or where the raised sides of an enclosure are at risk of warping. Our experienced engineers optimise your design to ensure a flawless product.

In addition to the primary injection moulding of enclosures, we also overmould metal inserts or can assemble enclosures using welding techniques (mirror welding or ultrasonic welding).
